Proper Nutrition & Intervention for CSEN

Special Education Seminar
Proper Nutrition & Intervention for CSEN

Proper nutrition is a foundation for good health” is the theme of the seminar held at MOOT Court in College of Education last Wednesday around 9am-1pm. There were two invited speakers; one is Sister Arlene Panoncillo, a nutritionist-dietician of New Era Hospital talked about proper nutrition. Mrs Wilma Dela Cruz-Ligot, a mother of a child with autism and a graduate of Psychology talked about the intervention for CSEN.
Parents, children with special needs, teachers and students were present in that seminar. The discussion talked about the benefit of a good and proper nutrition in the body of each and everyone in the community. There are things that I’d first learned in that session and one of it is “the more basic the ingredients are, the healthier it is” and “no single food provide all nutrients”. In this modern world with high-tech machines used to produce foods and other products, people is prone in many diseases and leads to a shorter life. So, lots of things tried to do by people in order to be properly nourished. Eating healthy foods and regular exercise is a must. Eating in a right time and for a right amount of food. Too much is bad in our health, so a balance and variety of food to eat is needed. Too much fat may lead to hypertension, too much salt may lead to urinary tract infection, and too much sweet may lead to diabetes, so eat variety of food. Water and fruits are good source in replenishing toxic in our body, so eat plenty of fruits and drink lot of water. Foods offer in fast food chains are bad in health because of the way of preparing it and ingredients of it; too much fat and salt. A good kitchenware is also important in preparing foods because there are various utensils that have elements or chemicals that are harmful in our body if we intake it, so choose kitchenware that are safe to used. It may test or check through boiling a teaspoonful of baking soda and water in a casserole, then let it simmer for about a minute and try to taste the water if is bitter so then there is/are chemicals that are harmful in our body that shouldn’t be take in. I learned also that symptoms, characteristics, behaviour and indications perceive to those children with special needs are different in each other. In other word, there is no fix or specific indications may found to children with special needs and it evolved or broadens with the help of modern facilities and equipment. Today, people should be aware of things they do, foods they take, technologies they used, activities they do, and other things that might affect their health. And to the concerned parents of children with special needs, it is really concerns the health of their child/children with special needs, so the seminar helped them a lot about taking good care to their love ones. It is the standing knowledge that public health involves effort to prevent disease and promote the total well-being on an individual, local, provincial, regional, and national, or international level. Due to the changes of diseases that afflicted the people from infectious to degenerative, there are devised strategies and technologies that would promote effective and efficient monitoring disease prevention and control programs for all kinds of diseases.
So, take good care of ones healthJ
