Math Week Celebration

Math Week Celebration

“THE REASON BEHIND ALL BEAUTY” is the theme in celebration of Math week this year. It incorporates all the activities showing the beauty of all things.  It simply represents the talents and skills of every education students of New Era University and shows that Mathematics is a bit of tough but fun. Celebration started last November 16, Friday for gathering creative works of students like paintings, drawings, literary works and other work of art. Students enjoyed lots of games including Math-amis, Math-sining, Math-alentado, Math-alino; individual and by group and board games such as equilizer, sodoku, word factory and daMath.
I really enjoyed the games I had attended to because it gives me opportunities to recognise and show skills that I can do. I played board games such as word factory and equilizer that drained my mind especially in making equation out of the tiles I had. Playing equilizer was such a fun game to play mostly together with friends. I also attended Math-alino which is a quiz bee for individual and by group. It is crazy to retrieve lessons studied during our first year in college which is so easy for the first year participants to recall the answers from the given questions. It’s funny to think that some of the general information asked was not so familiar with us, maybe because most of us were not fun in watching news. I participated also in Math-alentado together with the SpEd majors and fortunately we’ve won second place in the said activity. We’ve danced the all-time favourite dance craze of this time “Oppa Gangnam Style”. We didn’t expect to win on that activity. We only want to participate and not to compete but luckily the audience and judges enjoyed our performances. The Math-alentado revealed the craziness and hidden skills of every student. The said activity gives really enjoyment to each one of us. Math week celebration ended in a culminating activity held at University hall last November 26, Monday. The culminating activity was enjoyable and entertaining most especially to the highlights of the event which is the crowing of Mr. Ms. Sipnayan (Filipino term for Mathematics) wearing their recycled but sophisticated and elegant costumes which promotes making new things out of scrap. Escorts and muses with the people who think and create their dresses have artistic style.
Celebration of Math week this year is really enjoyable and it would not be achieve without the great effort of Mathematics major, so congratulations to all of them especially to their president. And it would not accomplish well without the support came from the advisers and professors, and to all the students participated in the event. Above all, let’s all thank God in guiding us throughout the celebration. And hopefully next year Math week will rock again the College of Education.
