Meet the Independent Me
There
may be strength in numbers, but living on your own can be a great experience.
That is how my three years in college goes on.
Even
in my high school days, I already planned to pursue my college in Manila or
Quezon City to have a change; different environment, different persons and more
challenging life. Because of my great encouragement to my parents for me to
study in Manila, they have nothing to do but to support me. Before they gave me the consent to continue my
studies here, lots of argument arise and misunderstandings because they don’t
really want me to study here for lots of reasons. But for now, here I am succeeding
what I want.
I
took entrance exam in New Era University (this is the only school I am allowed
to enrol by my parents) last summer of 2010 and not to mention that, that was
my first time to see Metro Manila. My mom and I spent our days here at the
house of a friend; we’ve met them way back our stay in a small island located
in Antique where my family and their family met. And as we’ve knew the result
of the entrance exam, we’ve went back to Mindoro and prepared all the things I
needed. On the last days of May 2010, I’d faced college life, I’m amazed and
excited at first to live freely since I am boarding and do the chores alone.
It’s not a bit a hard thing to do for the reason that I do some chores in our
house aside from cooking (I love to eat but in terms of cooking? I leave it to
my Mom). I was actually excited on the first day of being a college student; in
fact to the point I rehearsed on how to introduce myself to classmates, friends
and teachers. Things went smooth during my first days in college aside from I
was worried on how to deal to some students, maybe because I am only a probinsyana and have not enough idea on
how to socialize and cope with the new environment. However, I am thankful that
I gained true friends in this department. I was enrolled as BSE-English but
during my half year in First year, I decided to shift to BEEd-SpEd for some
reasons and one of it is the encouragement of my Mom for me to go back to our
province and continue my studies there. So, I decided to shift to Special
Education because I was notified that there is no offered Special Education in
our province (a really bright idea of mine). Now, I enjoyed and fulfilled to
major decisions I’ve made for past years, from enrolling to this university to
choosing this specialization.
I
learned several things in life for now that I am matured enough and can make
things by my own and best of all, I’ve met the independent of me.
